  • SCC Sleningford Camping and paddling weekend

    May 3, 2019  11:30 am - May 6, 2019  12:00 pm
Sleningford Watermill, North Stainley, Ripon HG4 3HQ, UK

Slenningford Camping weekend and paddling near Ripon in Yorkshire. The campsite is on the banks of the river Ur and includes a fantastic opportunity to have fun on the water and off. It is a great place for those who wish to work on skills in ferry gliding and learn the basics of river running on a small section that can be run again and again. We are planning to go on the first May bank holiday weekend which is the 4th, 5th and 6th of May because the water levels may drop too much for the later one. Some go up earlier on the Friday or that evening to make the most of it. BOOKING opens on 1st of March and I can preliminarily hold a block booking to allow SCC members a chance to camp or caravan together. The section on the campsite we will try to hod is Mole End - this is at the bottom of the site and does not allow dogs due to wild life. If you need to be near the facilities, or wish to take a dog then you can book yourselves.

The site is lovely, not cheap on the Bank holidays, but for those who like to paddle and spend time with family and friends it is a lovely setting. There is a small shop on site and bigger supermarkets in Ripon and you will need to organise food and bring cooking facilities. The shower and toilet blocks are very good and in general the site is very well kept.
